how do we document and asses learning?

Play based learning goals

In play children learn conceptual thinking through the use of imagination. By giving objects new meaning through imaginings, they form the skill of connecting a concept to reality. Conceptual thinking is a necessary skill for learning in school – in order to connect symbols to a concept or the abstract/object to the concrete/idea.
For example: how do we come to understand how to use x + y = a or that a unit cube represents a number or measurement (Fleer, 2011)?

We document and assess learning through

  • Individual Child Stories
  • Parent Homelinks
  • Individual Child Assessments
(using ages & stages developmental screening & lwt)
